We're almost there. Spring is on the way, but it seems SO far off. The decreased daylight can leave one feeling less cheerful and/or less motivated. A little aromatherapy could be just what you need to lighten your day! Here are five essential oils to help get you over that Winter hump.
~ Lemon ~
Lemon's bright uplifting aroma is a stimulant that helps increase focus. It also is said to help regulate mood by increasing serotonin and dopamine levels.
~ Bergamot ~
Bergamot is an energizing citrus oil that helps decrease tension, stress ans anxiety. Great aroma to balance the mind. Increases ones sense of humor and well-being.
~ Jasmine ~
Jasmine is the Queen of the florals. She can help increase alertness and optimism while helping you relax. Need more restful sleep? Are your Yin and Yang feeling a bit wonky? Jasmine could be the oil for you.
~ Peppermint ~
A little whiff of peppermint can help increase alertness and decrease anxiety. It's uplifting scent can help ease irritability, stress, and exhaustion
~ Rose Geranium ~
Has the Winter left you feeling a little stressed, anxious and off kilter? Rose geranium oil is said to help lift the spirits, balance the emotions and make the world an easier place to live in. Who couldn't use more of that?
After you've chosen the oils that are right for you, here are some suggestions on ways to use them.
~Use in a room diffuser.
~Dress an unscented candle by smoothing a couple of drops on the top edge of the candle
~Add to a bath for relaxation. Just add 10-15 drops to a 1/4 cup of epson or sea salts for an instant spa experience
~Enjoy a sniff straight from the bottle during the middle of "one of those days"
~ Make a simple room spray by combining 15-20 drops of essential oil
blend with 2 ounces distilled water in a spray bottle. Shake well
before use.
