Insect Repelling Essential Oils
Now that the warm weather is upon us so are the bugs! There is no need to turn to harsh chemicals such as DEET to keep from getting bit. Mother Nature has provided us with a large selection of natural insect repellents that are safe and smell good.
~Mosquitoes- lemon eucalyptus, patchouli, juniper, rosemary, lavender
~Fleas - peppermint, rose geranium, lemon, pine
~Ticks - tea tree, rose geranium
~Ants - peppermint
~Spiders - lemon, peppermint
Make a spray to address your particular buggy needs by mixing 40 drops of the desired oils with 3 ounces of distilled water in a spray bottle. Shake well before use and avoid getting in your eyes and mouth.
🌿 Essential oil safety
If pregnant, consult with your midwife before using essential oils. Always consult a good reference manual on essential oils for safe practice guidelines. One of my favorites is The Complete Book Of Essential Oils and Aromatherapy by Valerie Ann Worwood. Do your research before using an oil you are unfamiliar with, and stop using it if it causes an unwanted reaction, (everyone is different!) and please seek medical attention for any allergic reaction. Information offered in my listings is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease and none of the statements has been evaluated by the FDA.
